Roger Slaalien is a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a BS in Marketing. Various sales positions including ones long before college prepared him for a life's journey in sales and sales Management, such as selling greeting cards in the third grade to a paper route to selling and winning top sales on his journey to Life Scout. He sold shoes for Converse and electronics at Radio Shack while in College and held an 8 month internship at the IBM Product Center outside of Boston, Massachusetts in his Senior year of college. Watching his father run a successful business Roger developed an eagerness for business early on and would tag along even as a first grader acting as security in the toy department reporting shoplifters. Early on Roger also noticed what the finer things in life bring through meeting of successful relatives and friends and many mentors along the way. This desire for wealth has turned into a desire for wealth, helping others achieve their life long dreams of wealth and family as well as a personal desire to practice philanthropy.

After college Roger married his wife Noreen (Nonie) in 1988. Roger tried out various sales positions from the Winery of Ernest and Julio Gallo to Yellow Page sales, eventually winding up at a small distributor of Automatic doors for super markets and Hospitals. He excelled at this position and in a short time was noticed at a convention in Chicago by a much larger firm, offering limited partnership and a move to Virginia Beach, Virginia along with Management of the Virginia and Richmond Virginia offices. After 6 years and at the age of 30 feeling a sense of apathy and "is this all there is". Roger abruptly left his position and was bought out y the door company. Using that stake and monies borrowed from his 401k he decided to open what is now MetAmerica Mortgage Bankers, Inc.

Dreaming big, Roger wrote a 5 year business plan that at the time seemed unobtainable in the current market conditions. Within 5 years every goal on the plan was achieved and more. Taking his wife as not only a partner in life but a partner in business were two of the smartest things he has ever done. Noreen keeps his dreaming big tied to planet earth and is constant and never endingly reminding him of the consequences each action brings. This has been a plan that through, ying and yang, has worked tremendously.

Now with 15 years in the business, MetAmerica is not only a Mortgage Banker, their partner World, LLC also owned by Roger and Noreen services loans. MetAmerica is now also a wholesale Banker sponsoring third party originations in FHA and conventional loans. Roger also owns one of the largest title companies in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Roger has always taken a positive “Can do” approach to business. “I am very proud of the team I have built. But much more than that, I am proud of each of them individually as I hold a high standard that many find hard to live up to. The people who are on my team meet those higher standards, in all the ventures I am involved in. By setting expectations of my people and asking what their expectations are of me, we find we understand each other better. I am here to be a coach, a supporter, a cheerleader as well as a visionary to where we will be in 5- 10 and 20 years and beyond. MetAmerica is my Legacy. It’s not what you take from this earth that is remembered, but what you have given to it and what remains thereafter. My long term vision is for MetAmerica to be helping it’s Team Members and clients long after God has decided it is time for me to join him.”
